Art. Museums.

Museo Nacional De la Historia del Traje

The museum is located in a house that dates back to 1907, which was constructed with brick masonry on foundations made of "tierra romana" (a mix of lime, shells, brick dust and sand.) It is a typical "casa chorizo" ("sausage house," a typical construction of the early 20th century) with three patios, that is characteristic of the strong Italian influence on architecture at the time. All the original details have been preserved in this house, such as its mosaic floor, its artistic wood panelling on the ceilings, its warm boiseries and a Luis XV-style fritted partition wall that separates the main room from the music room. The first patio and its galleries have masonry decorations including mouldings and beautiful angel heads, which is why it has been named "The Patio of Little Angels." The Museum basically exhibits civil clothing, suits and accessories from the 19th and 20th century. Around nine thousand one hundred fifty (9,150) valuable pieces that reflect the spirit of creators and designers of applied craftwork and art of all times. It has one of the few specialized libraries on the topic, as well as a video and photo library. It also offers courses and seminars. It is a must-see, not only because of its collection, but also because of the old house in which it is located!
