Art. Museums.

  Emigracion Gallega - MEGA

The Museum display cabinets show a hundred objects, photographs, documents, life stories, literary works, objects, musical instruments and pictorial art work belonging to this community, which is one of the most important in the country. They recreate the everyday life of this community by showing the belongings they brought with them from their villages, the work they carried out and the first tools they created for their work. The main display cabinet is dedicated to the written testimonies of immigrants and includes letters, documents, passports, travel permits and the tickets for the ships that left port at La Coruña, Vigo and Lugo and brought these people to Buenos Aires. The library includes the most important archive of specialized documentation from our country that generally reflects the way of thinking of the exiled republicans. Visitors may also see the heart-warming documentary "Entre Vientos y Mareas," which contains a series of testimonies of the immigrants who came to the country during the last immigration wave, between 1940 and 1960. Museo de la Emigración Gallega (Museum of Galician Immigration) is sure to interest the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Galicians, as well as other people interested in the history of our country, in which immimgrants have played an essential role.
