We really liked our stay in Mercedes' apartment. It is spacious and equipped with all we needed: A double bed (in a separate room), 2 single beds (on a gallery above the big kitchen/living room area), a bathroom and 2 balconies, one facing the street. The colorful decoration of the place creates a nice atmosphere. The surrounding area is charming, the San Telmo street fair (on Sundays) is close and you can get to other parts in the city easily using public transportation.

It was a quirky and charming space that matched the character of the neighborhood perfectly. The location was ideal for exploring San Telmo and La Boca, and the street noise at night did not bother us. It was also nice to have Mercedes and the Casa San Telmo team in their office for help getting around in BA. Overall we loved it and would stay there again. One thing, if you plan to try to do any cooking the kitchen is functional but limited.

It was a large and comfortable appartment with a nice balkony and I enjoyed my living there for 5 weeks .

We chose Casa San Telmo because of its great location, and being an apartment that reflects the history of this amazing city.
The location is about a fifteen minute walk to the Microcentro and less than ten minutes to a Subte station. Although some people question the safety of the area, we never felt at risk. With a police station less than a block away and always people on the streets anytime of day or night, this was never a consideration, ever. The apartment has supermarkets and a market close by, a whole host of bars and restaurants to choose from and a "wash and fold" laundry one minute away.
The apartment had everything you could want, although there was no stereo or DVD player as mentioned in the description. We had one problem with the WiFi, but this was fixed immediately ; having the apartment management in the office below was very useful and the staff were extremely helpful and concerned that our experience was positive. The noise of the traffic did not affect us as the bedroom was at the back of the apartment and not an issue that would put me off the apartment.
To wake up and walk into the living area with its wall of huge French doors with shutters, gaze at the high brick ceiling and have a coffee/wine on the terrace make this apartment more charming then many of its contemporaries.

We had the perfect getaway with the ideal hostess during our stay in Buenos Aires. Mercedes, the landlady (also a tango dancer in B.A.) made our trip wonderful. She introduced us to the "milongas".... organized tango dances, and guided us to the best of the area. The Apartment is lovely, and set in the heart of the barrio of San Telmo, the soul of the city! We were quickly drawn in to the amazing culture. We were able to walk out our front door and be in the midst of a postcard.... a bustling city, with the architecture of Paris, the language of old Spain, the foods of Italy, and the heart of the Argentine people.... ready to be your family away from home. There are fantastic restaurants, wine shops, and cafes on every corner, and the coolest street fair each Sunday in the square and streets of the neighborhood. We will be back! This is not a place for the walking impaired, as one wants to walk everywhere (and the rugged sidewalks make it challenging!) The prices on food and entertainment are quite reasonable, and we were thrilled with our accommodations for the price.

We had a wonderful time in argentina. It's a great place located in beautiful San Telmo. The staff, especially Mercedes is very welcoming and helpful. We would stay here again in a second.

I stayed for 3 months and loved it! Great location and cool funky apartment! Some cool art too!
One small note, the outdoor bathtub didn't ever have hot water though.
Thanks, Ben

I spent one month at this particular apartment whilst on my medical student elective in Buenos aires. Great location, directly opposite a great English speaking pub - The Gibraltar. Supermarkets 30secs up the road and taxi's constantly passing. The apartment is approx 2 blocks (2mins) away from Defensa - the main street of San Telmo, 5 minutes away from Plaza Dorrego, 10 minutes away from both Florida, Microcentro and Puerto Madeiro on foot. 15-20mins cab journey from Palermo, Recoleta, Internal airport (Jorge Newbury) and the Retiro Bus Station.
The 2nd floor apartment itself is fantastic. Great size for 2 people, all desirable working white goods - fridge, cooker, shower, AC/heater, TV, wireless, speakers etc, nice outdoor terrace and weekly cleaner. There however was not a safe, although to be honest I didn't feel that there was an outright indication for one. Just hide your essentials properly.
The ground floor of the building conveniently houses Casa San Telmo - the company which owns the property and others in San Telmo. A very helpful and approachable team. Happy to arrange airport transfers, give general advice and deal with any rental related issues quickly and efficiently.
I my months experience, these guys were great and the apartment was ideal.I can't vouch for any of their other properties, but this particular apartment comes highly recommended.

Great price, great location, nice apartment, helpful staff, an all around good deal. Peru Street is loud, but that is expected if you want a place close in. There is a benefit to that - we got to see what we think was a police escort of the Boca Junior's Soccer Team and/or fans bus down the street! Many great restaurants to walk to, we felt safe at night, close to the subte, and fruit market. You can trust Casa San Telmo.

Great rustic place in San Telmo. It is very close to Plaza Dorrego where you can see the host Tango into the night. Only set back was the toilet and bathtub were not functioning right. Other than that it was nice.

The best thing about this apartment is it's location. It's cute and quaint. There are way too many locks to get in and out of the apartment. But, all in all if you want to stay in the tourist neighborhood of San Telmo its good. However, I do believe that there are better apartments for value. The staff is very friendly and helpful, but the neighborhood is a bit seedy. It's not the best, and it's not the worst.

We loved the apartment, and the balcony overlooking the street was lovely. We were treated to the Boca Juniors soccer supporters bus driving through one evening in all their revelry - a truly fun memory. Great location. We have recommended it to friends.
Jason Underhill de United Kingdom (Janvier 2011)
The apartment is in a perfect location - San Telmo is THE up and coming area in Buenos Aires.
The back room is quiet but, as anywhere in Buenos Aires, the buses are loud at the front.
I\'d say perfect for young family or four friends; in the perfect area and, if you like shabby chic, it\'s an excellent value place to stay.
The added bonus of being above the rental office means getting keys is easy too.

I stayed with 2 other guys in this apt in Jan. 2010 for a week. It was great, reasonably priced, plenty of room, in a fun neighborhood (San Telmo) with a great roofdeck. I highly recommend it!

We had a great time at Peru 886, attached are some snaps from our stay.
It is very funky apartment and it felt like home. The girls loved their mez
level and we all enjoyed the height and light the apartment has. We also
appreciated your relaxed and friendly attitude. We wish we had danced
the tango with you... a month was not enough.
Thanks again, we will see you in the future.

Nice apartment in a good location.Staff friendly and cery helpfull. We had a great stay in BA. A couple of negatives - the noise from the regular buses that use Peru St and the two single beds on the mezzanine level need upgrading, the matresses must be replaced.

The apartment was great! During the course of our stay, we truly came to fully appreciate the great location of Peru as well as the quaintness and absolute charm of the apartment. It became a home away from home, particularly due to the hospitality of the staff. The only issues for us were that the apartment was a bit dusty, which was a little hard on us because we all suffer from asthma and allergies, but this was ameliorated by opening the balcony windows. But none of this was at all an issue enough to take away from our highly positive experience here. We all agree we would strongly recommend this place to anyone and would definitely state how welcoming and friendly everyone was. Thank you so very much!

The apartment is beautiful and very comfortable. It is in a great area. We are so glad we found it. It was the perfect place to spend our vacation.
