My name is Mercedes. I was born in Buenos Aires, where we attends daily to Milongas, a connoisseur of this city, "the capital of tango". As an architect, I am involved in preservation of heritage.

The apartment/house is very romantic and authentic! We had a lovely stay in Mercedes apartment. The location is absolutely perfect - right in the middle of lovely San Telmo.
Gary Turner de Manchester, England (August 2014)
We had a fantastic stay here. The house is absolutely beautiful as per the advertised images. San Telmo is a great area and we felt safe both in the house and in the neighbourhood. Mercedes was a good host and the communication was excellent. The only slight downside was having to checkout at 10am. Overall we would highly recommend this house and we\'d definitely stay here again if we returned.
Mickael Gaillard de Switzerland (July 2014)
Very nice and charming place in a very nice district (San Telmo) and close to a lot of points of interest in the city. The owner is also a nice person, ready to help if necessary. I would recommend this house without any hesitation.
Jacqueline Duncan de California, EEUU (April 2014)
We stayed at Colonial house from 4/22 to 5/5/14. The house is charming and very funky, located at the back of the property, which also felt safe. It\'s decorated with lots of flea market/artsy finds. It is reflective of the old neighborhood, San Telmo, which is filled with antique stores and second hand shops and stalls. Mercedes is a wonderful hostess and we really enjoyed her company. (She speaks English very well). We had only a couple of problems -- the bathrooms have hand-held shower heads. I heard that she was planning to fix this (I assume with a wall mount so you don\'t have to hold it the whole time). Also, my husband is tall and had trouble fitting into the upstairs bathtub for the shower as the ceiling in the bedrooms were rather low. The location is excellent -- close to lots of fabulous restaurants, cafes and the antiques stores.
Sepideh Minaaraghi de California, EEUU (March 2014)
The apartement is a great location and beautifully decorated however there were many mosquitoes in the house and some raid would be advisable to bring. Being in lower apartment there were noise issues from upper apt as well. there is no mension in the advertisement about the apartement not having hanging shower heads, you have to had the shower head in the upper bath top half bending to make sure you are splashing water everywhere and downstair bathroom is also hand hold shower head.
Indira Suho de Vancouver, Canadá (March 2014)
The apartment is beautifully designed and comfortable. We really enjoyed our short stay in BA. The location was great, close to many good bars and restaurants as well as the San Telmo Market. Mercedes was wonderful, really responsive and sweet. The garden is beautiful but it does attract a large number of mosquitos so make sure to bring some bug spray if you are there while it rains. Overall a good experience, we would recommend the apartment.
Saf Suleyman de London, United Kingdom (March 2014)
a great apartment, beautifully decorated. very cool. great assistance from the team there, very useful to have a mobile to borrow. only thing needed is maybe a warning about the mosquitos. there is a mature garden next to all the apartments and coupled with the weather will attract a lot of mozzies. a warning or some RAID in the apartment would have been useful
Lauren Guptill de Portsmouth, United States (February 2014)
What fun we had staying in this lovely San Telmo apartment. Located just a block and a half from Plaza Dorrego, you are really in the heart of San Telmo. A little jewel! I great place to stay for a few days to experience a bit of Buenos Aires. Thanks!!!
Carole de usa (November 2014)
I LOVED staying here -- it was a home away from in the vibrant San Telmo area. Great style, ambiance, just as eclectic as the barrio. The patio and pool allow others guests to mingle, the apartment was everything as advertised. The staff are wonderful - fixed an outlet as soon as notified - and Mercedes, the manager and woman who is responsible for rescuing such a wonderful historical building - is great. Everyone was very helpful and wants the guests to enjoy themselves. Would stay here again and again.
Tatiana De Dalmas de Paris, France (January 2014)
Wonderful, fun and very friendly host. Very quick and efficient in answering emails. The actual apartment was also great, clean, very well decorated, plenty of light, in great neighborhood of San Telmo. Highly recommend!!!
Michael Burlingame de New York, United States (January 2014)
Mercedes was a wonderful host and the home is pretty awesome. Located steps away from the heart of San Telmo. Very clean. Very comfortable. Should note, the pool was dirty due to a storm and it took a few days to clean. Only suggestion to Mercedes is brief neighborhood guide with what is direct around would be a nice touch - although she was happy to help us find groceries and change money.
We had a wonderful time in Buenos Aires and the apartment was great. Our host took us out one night with her friends and we had an awesome time. I would definitely recommend Casa San Telmo for travelers.
Antonia Marina Cazemier de United Kingdom (December 2013)
Quirky, lovely and an oasis of calm right in the centre of San Telmo - the little pool and effective air conditioning were much appreciated in the Buenos Aires heat wave!
Pradeep Ghosh de United States (October 2013)
This is an amazing place nested in the heart of San Telmo. The home is so unique in design, yet extremely comfortable. Loved everything about it. Owner is very quick to respond and was able to accommodate our travel plans. Thanks for a wonderful time in Buenos Aires.
Monica N de United States (September 2013)
We had a wonderful stay at colonial house in the heart of San Telmo! We felt very welcome from moment we arrived - and we had an amazing experience. we loved learning to Tango with her, she is a wonderful host! The apartment was very comfortable we quickly settled in we had everything we needed. Her recommendations for food were the best and by the end of our stay we felt that we fit right in to the neighborhood and could easily become permanent residents! We HIGHLY recommend staying with this host, if you are looking for an authentic experience that will enable you to live like a local Argentinian, if only for a short period! WE LOVED IT!! BESOS!!
Chris Anderson de United States (September 2013)
Very fun apartment. Excellent location in San Telmo.
We really loved the Colonial House. Oozing charm located at the back of the complex, providing plenty of privacy. Host was very helpful, checking in with us to make sure everything was okay and even taking us out tango dancing on our last night. The staff were also very helpful, letting us store our luggage on our last day and helping us reserve a ride to the airport. One thing to keep in mind. This is an older building and if you expect a certain level of luxury it would not be the place for you. There was a leak in the downstairs bathroom that unfortunately could not be fixed while we were there (fixing it would have been too disruptive for us and the leak wasn't so bad we couldn't live with it). We were there in the winter and the single gas fire didn't heat the place too efficiently. However, if you're comfortable with this kind of minor issue, the place is awesome, the location is awesome, and host is awesome.
We had an excellent stay. Host was awesome, even took us out dancing and we had a great time. The place is amazingly beautiful. We would love to stay here again. Thanks.
Bailey Himel de United States (May 2013)
We had a great time in the apartment. The house is perfectly located in San Telmo, but a quiet retreat from the busy city. We loved being able to cook breakfast and hangout in the spacious living room. We also took advantage of the outside sitting areas as well. The owner was very helpful with any questions and gave us some great tango recommendations. For a stay in San Telmo this place is perfect.
Lucile Aubry de France (May 2013)
El depa es super lindo. Apreciamos pasar unos dias alla mientras visitabamos Buenos Aires.
Matt Vickers de New Zealand (April 2013)
A creatively and thoughtfully decorated loft / apartment only a block from the heart of San Telmo. Well suited to the young or young-at-heart.
Karen Drescher de Denmark (April 2013)
Nice appartment central in san Telmo- close to Plaza Dorrego. Very nice garden with small pool.
Friederike Leuenberger de Switzerland (February 2013)
We spend more than a week in the colonial house, discovering the attractions of BA, and we were happy to have this retreat. It's like an oasis of tranquility in the middle of all the busyness. I agree with all the other reviews and cannot add something new or better.
Isabel Brodeur de Canada (February 2013)
Emplacement parfait, vraiment sympathique, condo 5/5.
Lainie Acacio de United States (February 2013)
We were incommunicado for 2 weeks travelling without cellphones or email so there was a slight bump having someone do the meet and greet and because of this some of the small details were overlooked in the flat for our arrival (towels, toilet paper, some cleaning). We were let in by another guest and made ourselves at home. Good thing we are pretty self sufficient. The flat is exactly how it appears in the photos, its style reflected by the antiques that make San Telmo a popular location. We live in a home currently that is over 100 years old, so with this in mind one must know that this flat is also not without its quirks indicative of an older building. This flat has great privacy because of its location at the far end of the courtyard. It was a great area to be staying with our parents and our 3 year old, who made herself right at home watering all the plants and playing in the pool. Some of us were really eaten alive by mosquitoes which are present anywhere there is moisture and lots of vegetation, bring bug spray. :) Its location is very ideal for exploring San Telmos cobble stoned streets and other areas like Puerto Madero, Costanera Sur and if you like walking the Retiro
Sasha Astafyeva de United States (January 2013)
House has a ton of character and is located in a perfect location. It's a bit of a cab ride from Palermo, but San Telmo is such a wonderful area and everything is close to the house. I enjoyed staying here, albeit beware of a couple of things: bathrooms are a bit rusty and there are some mosquitoes in the house. Otherwise, if you do not mind these things, it~s a great place to stay in BA!
Joseph Vandenorth de United States (January 2013)
The apartment is beautiful. The owner decorated it with impeccable style. The location couldn't be better - just a stone's throw away from the Sunday market in San Telmo and the Plaza Dorrego.
John Bensimon de United States (December 2012)
Lovely and gracious host. She provided us with some great tips and was responsive to some issues we had. She is a trained architect and has created a lovely, serene space in an urban atmosphere. The courtyard is gorgeous and the home very unique. I would recommend this home to a friend and would definitely stay there again but would caution you not to expect hotel caliber cleanliness. The trade-off is you will stay in a very unique, memorable space with great lighting, high ceilings and some fine old rustic furnishings and that is walking distance to San Telmo attractions.
Lucy Tafler de United States (November 2012)
Beautiful quirky creative space in a great location right in the center of San Telmo. A fantastic host as was her friendly cat. I celebrated my birthday here and couldn't have asked for better and hope to return soon.
Recomendado 100%
Helenemarie Ceillier de South Africa (September 2012)
We really enjoyed our stay at this cute colonial house! very well located close to many restaurants and tango places!
Ed Wilcox de Reino Unido (July 2012)
San Temo was a great neighbourhood to stay in. Some great cafe's and restaurants near by and awesome markets on weekend. The apartment was a very cosy and comfortable place for a base while in Buenos Aires. The owner was very responsive to any issues we had and helpful for any help you may need. Would definitely recommend this place for some time in BA.
Kay de United Kingdom (February 2012)
We had an fantastic time staying at the apartment - perfect location, near Plaza Dorrego - Sunday antiques and bric-a-brac market with tango in the evening. Near to lots of supermarkets if you want to eat in and restaurants if you don't, including veggie which was important for us. The apartment is full of light and has oodles of charm. Not the most luxurious in terms of modern amenities but comfortable bed and lots of space. Even had a guitar to play on the lovevly patio and also a resident cat who came to say hello every morning. Access to satellite tv, and also cd and dvd player once you got the hang of the wiring set up. No laundry facilities but this can easily be arranged. Would love to go back here some day and stay longer!
Marco M de Alemania (January 2012)
It was a great stay at a beautiful appartment with a very nice host, friendly and helpful tango expert . We can highly recommend staying here if you would like to have a authentic stay in a relaxed disctrict of BA!
Kjell R de Suecia (January 2012)
Fantastic stay at a fantastic place! The neighborhood is top notch and the owner was a gold mine of information when we first arrived. We liked it so much we booked an extra night when we were flying out of BA. We never really used to inside kitchen but did use the pool and the outside kitchen quite a lot! The place has a fabulous grill and seating area! We did have some contact with other people at Casa San Telmo. This lead to some overly complicated e-mail conversation about the most trivial details but everything got sorted in the end. Overall knowing Spanish in BA is a HUGE plus. I would very much consider staying at the exact same place if I go back to BA.
Natalya O de Estados Unidos (January 2012)
We loved staying in this house because it was close to San Telmo Centre and to a lot of other places. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Since we were there during a very hot weather, our kids enjoyed the little pool in the garden. The house is private and has an interesting vibe to it!
Lori B de Estados Unidos (January 2012)
The house was nice, but we needed an extra night so she recommended another place and charged quite a bit too much, that was a little disappointing.

We enjoyed the apartment which is spacious and full of interesting art and artifacts. The garden is wonderful. Mercedes is a lovely host and makes certain you have everything you need. Excellent location.
Lisa and Rainee de Australia (March 2011)
We had a great stay here. The apartment was gorgeous, full of interesting things, lots of light and very quiet. The security was good and San Telmo is full of great restaurants, venues and shops. Walking distance to the Centre and lots of attractions. Highly recommended. With thanks.
Sue Olive de Australia (November 2009)
Thank you very much for all your help and we absolutely loved staying in Buenos Aires and we had a great trip. The owner was wonderful and the accommodation there was the best we had during our travels. We hope we can visit you again in the future. Regards Sue
Susan Alexander de USA (October 2008)
We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this apartment. It was private, quiet, had a great sound system for listening to music and the furnishings were very artistic. It is very spacious and with the small garden and pool it is an inviting place to return to. Our host was welcoming and gracious in sharing information. We loved staying in St. Telmo. It has many cafes, mercados and galleries in the area and is a most interesting place to explore. Plaza Dorrego is two blocks away and is always an active place to visit.
Marie-Louise Smith de USA (September 2008)
